Edinburgh Dear Families, Our plans are taking shape for this year’s Edinburgh Workshop. We will be at the same venue as last year: George Watson’s College, Colinton Road, Edinburgh EH10 5EG. The dates are 2nd, 3rd and 4th of October. We will start on
Friday evening at 7pm with a welcome for parents with wine, music and a talk
with Christophe Bossuat. Other good friends who have said ‘yes’ so far are Helen
Brunner, Dorothy Conaghan, Mary McCarthy, Joanne Martin, Jan Matthiesen, Karen
Powell and Hector Scott.
This year we have a website. The booking form and further information can be found at www.edinburghsuzukistrings.org.uk This will be the only way to register. If you hate computers or websites, please get a kind friend or your teacher to help you. We are very keen to build interest from viola and ‘cello students. Last year, for the first time, we had a programme for violas with no need to play violin at all. This worked well, thanks to the ingenuity of the viola teachers, and we all enjoyed the special viola sound. We also had a few more ‘cellos which was gorgeous, and we are hoping to encourage more ‘cellos as well as violas. There will be informal lunch hour concerts again. Let us know if you want to perform and I will make up a programme in advance. No piece must last more than three minutes. Duets, trios, and groups will be very welcome- any kind of music you like! Do come and join us! Workshops are at the very heart of the Suzuki method, which is so much about sharing and encouragement as well as gaining skill and experiences. With all good wishes,
