September 2009

Dear Families,

We are so pleased you are planning to come to this year’s Edinburgh Workshop! Your Timetable will follow as soon as possible. Please don’t forget to print it out- and bring it with you. This will be your own personal copy for reference throughout the workshop weekend. If you do not yet know your Group/Concert piece do ring or email me directly.

The venue will be: George Watson’s College, Colinton Road, Edinburgh EH10 5EG.

Here is a summary of the programme:

Friday Oct 2nd –

  • 7.00 p.m. until about 8.30:

Welcome for parents and teachers with wine, ‘nibbles’, a short recital and discussion time with Christophe Bossuat and Jan Matthiesen. Our speakers will briefly introduce themselves, leading to your questions or ideas. Please email us your suggestions for discussion. (This event is not for children but we will try to have a room and supervision for children who cannot be left).

‘Mini Group Classes’. Prepare a Suzuki piece of your choice for this session-anything but the set workshop piece. If advanced pupils wish to play a non Suzuki piece be sure to bring a copy of the music for the teacher to see.

There will be no Solo Concerts this year. I do apologise if you did not get this information before. I did try to contact all teachers. We are planning other optional activities that we hope will be good.

Orchestra & Chamber music will be given out at the Workshop.

Catering: Tea, coffee, and juice will be available free. Crisps and snacks will be available for a small charge- but please bring your own packed lunch on both days,  unless you choose to go out to eat.

Accompanying adults: every child must be ‘under the wing’ of a responsible adult at all times.

Insurance: does not cover damage to instruments or bows

We have a wonderful team of teachers who are all looking forward to coming to Edinburgh and working with you for a happy and inspiring weekend!

Very best wishes from
